Good afternoon amazing parents and families or my terrific 3rd Graders!
Please have my incredible students view a short video from me at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D27ifz8juvw&feature=youtu.be These are challenging and possibly stressful times for you and your families. I am going to do my best to keep your stress to a minimum when it comes to schoolwork. That said, students do need to keep up their studies and have some normalcy, so I am asking that they do a checklist each day, beginning Monday 3/30. (If you are seeking some work for your child for this week or they’re getting restless, please feel free to have them read, utilize Prodigy, Multiplication.com, iStation-you will need to download the app, make sure their Spring Break packet is completed, or visit Freckle.) A lot of what we will be doing will be student-led, independent activities, but your guidance will be needed to check some work and practice some facts. I will do my best to provide answer keys to parents for those things that are more hands-on. If you encounter an issue, please let me know via email. Then simply skip that item until you hear back from me. I do not expect you to know everything and you are not alone. There is nothing that important that you should be stressed over it, so please feel free to move on if you encounter anything that is too stressful. I have workbooks with me at home and will be sending pictures of pages and answer keys so you will also need to check your emails regularly. Students will be assigned Math and Science on Monday/Wednesday/Friday and ELA/Social Studies on Tuesday/Thursday. Students are expected to complete a minimum of 20 minutes per subject on IStation each day. I will include an OPTIONAL schedule for your use if you’d like. Feel free to modify or adjust it as you choose (whatever works best for your family and home classroom needs). Brain Breaks: It is VERY important that throughout your day you take short breaks to prevent overload/fatigue, headaches, stress, etc. Some fun ideas are Gonoodle.com (see attached invite), take a walk, draw a picture, do yoga, etc. It will also help students stay motivated to get through a lesson if they know something fun is coming up. Daily color & Treasure Box: If you are having any issues with cooperation (fingers crossed this is not an issue), I recommend that you use a color chart and a reward system. I will honor any color changes for Fun Fridays if/when we return, so feel free to use that as leverage if you need it. Attached is a weekly color chart that you can use to provide a daily color. If you have not already please have students log in to their platoacademy.net gmail account and follow the invite to Google Classroom, Khan Academy (sign-in using a Google Account), and Prodigy. We will be utilizing Google Classroom. Please have the students log onto google classroom each day to find their assignments. Students will need access to their Plato Academy Gmail Account to fully use Google Classroom. Each student has been invited via email to join our Google Classroom. Please have your student log into his/her email to join the online learning database by Thursday, March 26th. THERE WILL BE AN INTRODUCTORY ASSIGNMENT DUE FRIDAY, MARCH 27TH ON GOOGLE CLASSROOM. Thank you for all that you do! Have a great night! :)

Good Afternoon families,
Wow! Several emails have gone out to our class families today! I have been hard at work making sure our students are prepared to start virtual learning on Monday, March 30th. The team and I are currently discussing sending one or two short assignment(s) home at the beginning of next week to keep our students on track. Please look out for that email next week. :) Please make sure you log into your student's Gmail Account. When you log in there should be three important emails. 1. Google Classroom Invitation - Please follow the instructions to gain access to our virtual learning. If needed our class code for this is: wjgm6tt 2. Prodigy Log-In Information 3. Khan Academy Invitation - Please follow the instructions to gain access to this virtual learning resource. If needed our class code is VVQGSSYX and I have students registered under three categories: 3rd Grade Math, Grammar, and BETA: 3rd Grade reading & vocab. If this resource asks you to choose categories, please choose the three categories I listed above. I am asking all students to have access to these accounts by Thursday, March 26th. I hope you are taking time to relax and enjoy this Spring Break. As a Plato family we will keep you in the loop when we receive any new information. Stay safe and healthy! Thank you for all that you do! Hello Families,
If you have not yet read the email I sent yesterday please read it below. I have received some emails that the Plato Gmail is not working with the Plato1234 password. If this does not work for you ask your child to type in his/her computer password into the Gmail account. Every student has a password for his/her laptop in our classroom. The password would be ALL LOWERCASE: plato00(their class number if they are 1-9) or plato0(their class number if they are 10-18). Please let me know if you have any questions or neither of these work for you. Also, I am currently sending out Prodigy account access to you and your child's Gmail Account. If you, nor your child, do not receive an email from me in regards to Prodigy by the end of the day today please respond to this email letting me know I need to still send it to you. Good Afternoon Families,
First and foremost, I hope that throughout all of this change your families are remaining safe and healthy over your spring break! I hope that amid the confusion you are finding some time this week to rejuvenate. We will need those bright well rested minds in the coming weeks as we navigate through purely digital learning. I know many of you are hesitant and nervous about students learning digitally but I hope this email will alleviate stress. Technology has been a component of our class that has been integrated throughout the entire year. Students are very familiar with many learning platforms and I firmly believe they will have a very easy transition due to this. If the students have never logged in before, their email is: [email protected] Password: Plato1234 (they will be asked to change this on their first login. Please have students save this password and/or write it down somewhere safe) We will be using these resources during our online learning (Please note more may be added to this list later on):
I miss each and everyone of my amazing third graders already! I am hopeful that we will return to the classroom after April15th. As more information is provided, you will be notified immediately. I am here to support you and your child and I ask that you remain patient as we navigate through this together. Please enjoy the remainder of your spring breaks as much as you can and know that once Monday, March 30th comes, I will be working tirelessly to ensure that your students finish out the school year strong, supported, and stress free! |
